Ah, the 8th hole at Stamford Golf Club. Stroke index 1, it has many a tale to tell. There are many ways to play this
hole, but none of them could be considered "safe". A bold tee shot would be one that hugs the tree line on the left but with the
fairway sloping right to left at the landing area there is always the chance that a good looking drive can kick left and bound into the
trees never to be seen again. A tee shot further right towards the fifth fairway is the safest first shot, but that will leave a long second
over a bank of trees to green which is way below the level of the fairway. Rabbit is a par 4 which is often played as a par five. Play your first shot
out right, your second over the trees into the valley leaving a chip and putt to save par, or a chip and two putts for a bogey which on the Rabbit can be
considered somewhat of a notional par. Coming just before the turn, the Rabbit can either make or break you card.
