The following notes will be removed before the site is published.Notes: To assist the publication of the site comments from officials and members about the site design have been solicited. Most comments made have been incorporated or an explanation given why an idea technically cannot be used. However an opinion has been expressed followed by an opposite opinion with respect to the subject of subscriptions, as follows:-
A past Captain has expressed the opinion that we should not divulge our subscriptions on the web page. He is of the opinion that publishing them will allow our competitors ie. other golf clubs in the area to reduce their subs to take business away from Stamford.
A good point, we would appreciate your specific comments on this observation.
CommentsStamford subs, particularly as we are currently not charging a joining fee, are the lowest in the area. Also, recently others were the first to remove their joining fees which did, along with other reasons result in some members leaving. When we dropped our joining fee we immediately filled our membership again. There is therefore an element of competition in the area already, in which Stamford is not suffering at all.
There is an opinion that the quality of our course, the value of our subs, the way we run our competitions and the atmosphere in the clubhouse will prevail in any local competitive environment. Also a phone call from a prospective member to the subs sec. will disclose the subs anyway, are our subs a secret?
Further comments are invited.A Blog is an online discussion, where any member will be able to open a topic of conversation with respect to anything to do with the club. Other members can then comment, expand, object or express an opposing opinion direct to the site. Comments would be vetted by a controller appointed by the council who would filter or edit any comments before allowing publication, the policy of what to allow being previously set by the council.
Individual council members may then be influenced or not by the Blog publications. This could result in proposals being made to council, full and significant opinions aired and sensible decisions made on behalf of the members.Subscriptions are per annum commencing January 1st 2007
